Motion to approve minutes by Bob, second by Dennis. Passed
Business
Presentation by Jenny Haubenreiser, Director of Health Promotions, MSU and chair of the Community Alcohol Coalition (CAC).
Jenny brought the group up to date on the activities of the CAC and then reported on the National Alcohol Policy Meeting she recently attended in Washington DC where she presented on a poster she created, “Perseverance in Policy Making.”
- ”Drink Driving” the international term rather than Drunk Driving
- She heard a discussion of the History of Global Alcohol Policy.
- Alcohol has been deemed the “most lethal drug”
- Ways to reduce alcohol consumption include: pricing, density of outlets, altering drinking context (compliance checks), and drink/driving deterrence.
Legislative Work Group:
Doug reported that the work group is focusing upon various connections each member may have in the community with legislators. In particular, there is a need to find people with a connection to Republican legislators.
Public Information & Education Group
- Buttons with the message “How will you get safely home?” have been distributed in Bozeman , West Yellowstone and Big Sky.
- Jenna sent out a guest column. It ran yesterday in the Chronicle and has also been submitted to the Belgrade and West Yellowstone News.
Finances
Mini-grants
- Vote on the Belgrade P.D. mini grant. Bob discussed the addendum to the Mini grant adding more cameras that can be loaned one each to each department . The total cost is $1,305.00. Bob is purchasing one camera within this order for himself and will reimburse the Task Force $79.99 for that purchase on or before the January meeting. Dennis motioned to approve, second by Kyla. Approved. David will bring in a movie from one of the cameras for the group to view.
- MHP holiday overtime patrol for New Years Eve and forward: $3000.00. Motion to by Bob to vote early on this mini grant, second by Kyla. That motion was approved. Then there was a second motion for approval of the mini-grant. Approved.
- Peter from the Mental Health Drop In Center presented a grant application for materials to be used for clients with co-occuring disorders who attend the Mental Health support groups.
